Counseling & Psychotherapy

We offer professional, evidence-based counseling focused on the findings of neuroscience that inform treatment.

Counseling can be an effective, efficient way for individuals to overcome hardship, increase confidence and improve quality of life. It involves a process that utilizes various interventions and strategies (depending on the counselor's approach) to reduce symptoms, improve functioning, and teach coping skills. Counseling can often focus on the past, present and future, as to understand the problem, it's origin and how to overcome it.

Counseling is beneficial for those who are experiencing mental health concerns such as substance abuse, stress, anxiety, depression, PTSD, or obsessive-compulsive behaviors/thinking. It is also recommended for those who are struggling with life’s obstacles such as self-doubt, life transitions, grief/loss issues, family issues, identity struggles, self-esteem, and/or relational problems.

We offer:

Individual counseling

Marital/couples counseling

Family counseling

Group counseling

Coaching

Coaching is a process that involves developing and implementing strategies to reach personal and professional goals. The focus in coaching is on the present and future with an emphasis on action steps to achieve success (whatever that means for you).  Coaching provides a road map, as well as a trusting, supportive relationship that provides accountability and encouragement. Coaching is beneficial for those who are generally functioning well, and who want to improve in one or more areas so that they can be their best selves and live a life with meaning, purpose and fulfillment.

Residency Small Group

Many residents enjoyed the small group format of last year’s Flourish program and requested similar this year. So, we designed this Flourish option as an ongoing, drop-in style group that will take place throughout the year to accommodate as many residents’ schedules as possible. The first meeting will take place on Thursday, October 3rd at 5:30 pm in The Center for Physician Wellbeing.

Future meeting dates will be decided by participating residents during the first meeting. Be on the lookout for more information from your program coordinator.

When: October 3, 2019 | 5:30 pm

Where: The Center for Physician Wellbeing

Please note: In order to protect confidentiality, attendance for this group will not be reported to the GME and is therefore not eligible to be used to fulfill the GME requirement.

Workshops and Events

We have developed a “menu” of wellbeing workshops specifically for you. Our workshops offer the opportunity to learn, practice new skills, de-stress, connect and have fun! Unless noted otherwise, all of our workshops, events, and activities listed fulfill the GME requirement and provide points towards the CREATION Health Employees Wellness Incentive.

Visit our Events page for more information, including workshop descriptions, dates, times, and locations. To download our full events calendar, which includes full descriptions, click here.

Educational Workshops

Educational workshops provide knowledge and skill development in the areas of parenting, self-care, moral injury in healthcare, interpersonal communication, healthy relationships, and more! These workshops function as a “lunch and learn” experience, and were scheduled for your convenience. Click here to explore our available educational workshops.

Experiential Workshops

Experiential learning is the process of learning through experience and is both an active and reflective process. Experiential workshops focus on gaining knowledge/skills firsthand, instead of simply hearing or reading about a topic. They are fun, hands-on groups which include activities such as cooking, mindfulness meditation, couples dinners, and nature-based adventures! Click here to explore our available experiential workshops.

Resilience Rounds

Last year we created Resilience Rounds as an opportunity for residents to practice self-care and it was a huge success! This event includes wellbeing activities such as chair massages, therapy dogs, and yoga/stretching and breathing exercises, providing a much needed break and a chance to rejuvenate during a busy day, or if held in the morning, a great way to set a mindful and relaxed tone before the day begins.

This year we will be offering Resilience Rounds by request only, so speak with your program coordinator if you are interested.
